Nepalese New Year Celebration in UW

 Part of Fashion Show

Friends of Nepal at University of Wyoming (FNUW) celebrated new year 2067 BS by organizing "Celebrate Nepal" event in the university today. The event included several dances, songs, musicals and fashion show which were followed by Nepali food and after event dance party.

Nepalese students showed Nepalese culture, dress and music in front of ~400 audiences. Audience were university students, staffs, faculties and locals from the town. I would say the program was a great success. Event started with a video about Nepal prepared by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Nepali national anthem was played. One of the main attractions of the show was a dance by Jay Nepal dance group. This group had won first prize in talent show event organized by International Student Association (ISA) of the university last week. Another attraction was fashion show. Fashion show included the traditional fashion of main ethnic groups in Nepal with short act representing them. A group of musicians from different parts of the world performed a performance called "Chatni music", a combination of different musical instruments from their country. Guest artists from Denver played tabla and flute.

Here are some of the pictures from the show. I will put videos of the event soon. Keep checking this blog for the videos.
